Sapporo Snow Festival 2014 - Part 2

This is Part 2 of our Sapporo adventures. If you missed it....Sapporo Snow Festival 2014 - Part 1

Susukino Blvd was the site of the Sapporo Snow Festival with a display of about 60 ice sculptures. They were fantastic! We got to see them lit up at night which really made them look even more amazing! Unfortunately taking pictures of them was not the easiest thing to do with so many bright billboards and buildings behind them. Susukino is Sapporo's nightlife and entertainment district. Known as the "largest entertainment district north of Tokyo." We definitely had to check it out!

300¥ drinks? Done.
This was the outside of the place. Great happy hour prices
and good window seats for people watching!
We have a knack for randomly finding bars
with "one more" in their name and here's
Sapporo's version!
He thought he'd be sophisticated and have
warm tequila...gross.
Had the standard Cosmopolitan...except
it's never the same anywhere...not even close!
This was in the middle of the street! We'll be back after
we get some food!
Taking a break on an ice bench...brrrr!

Sapporo is famous for its ramen and there is a little alley that has 17 tiny ramen restaurants. The alley has been around since the early 1950's. After some wandering we finally found it. Ramen Yokocho (Ramen Alley)! Then it was deciding which restaurant to choose...one with a line to get in? One with lots of people inside? One with no people inside? We ended up picking one that had a couple people inside and some delicious looking pictures near the door.

Sign above the entrance to the alley.
The menu. We both ordered the Hokkai noodles.
Crab and scallops!
It was so steamy inside the restaurant. You can almost
see the door behind me (where that person is standing)
and Keenan's back was against the back wall.
That's all the bigger the place was...
5-6 stools and 2 tables...10 customers MAX could fit.
Outside of the restaurant we went to.
Me standing in the alley. It was about a block long with
8-9 restaurants on each side.
Stopped back at the Ice Bar in the street.
I had some sort of hot apple beverage and
Keenan had hot red wine.

These pictures are of our room from earlier in the day when we checked in. We stayed at the Hotel Hamilton. Pretty standard sized Japanese hotel room...that means it was small! This is considered a "semi-double room" with a small double bed. They are usually around 100sq ft.

Giant key chain to make you leave your key
at the front desk whenever you leave.
This was our awesome view!

Up next: Sapporo Snow Festival 2014 - Part 3 (Where we visit the town of Otaru, see the giant snow sculptures at night and visit the Sapporo Bier Garten...)
